EMPOWER – EUSEM’s PrOfessional Workshop in Paediatric Emergency Response is the Official Academic Course of the European Society for Emergency Paediatrics
About the Course
This course programme consists of two parts, and participants can register for either part separately or for both parts.
Part 1: A one-day workshop in paediatric POCUS (8-hour workshop)
Proficiency in rapid Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) examination is now an essential skill in paediatric Emergency Medicine. Participants taking part in the POCUS course will gain hands-on experience in sonographic diagnosis of critical emergency conditions.
Part 2: Two days of lectures and discussions.
Participants will gain insights into the latest scientific literature and evidence-based practices in paediatric:
- Triage
- Medical and Traumatic Emergencies
- Resuscitation
- Pain & Sedation
- Disaster Medicine
- Child Maltreatment
Who can register for the course?
The course programme is designed for paediatric specialists, Emergency Medicine specialists, and emergency department physicians involved in academia and teaching. The main objective of this course is to substantially enhance participants' knowledge of the most recent scientific literature and advancements in paediatric emergency diagnostics and management.
Course Objective
The objective is to empower participants with cutting-edge data in paediatric emergency medicine on various important topics. The goal of this comprehensive approach is to ensure that European emergency department physicians stay updated on key advancements in paediatric emergency medicine.
Objectives:
- Become familiar with the latest evidence-based practices in key areas of pediatric emergency medicine, including triage, resuscitation, pain and sedation management, disaster medicine, child maltreatment, and fever in the young infant.
- Become familiar with knowledge gaps in pediatric emergency medicine.

The programme has been meticulously designed and will be delivered by EUSEP members who are leading experts in paediatric Emergency Medicine with extensive academic experience.
