Objectives
To provide emergency physicians with the information necessary for safe sedation practice in paediatric emergency setting.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This simulation-based sedation safety course appeared to enhance physician performance during procedural sedation. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/fullarticle/570942
The workshop focuses on providing physicians with theoretical knowledge and effective strategies to identify and treat sedation adverse events. The workshop includes a morning session and an afternoon session. The morning session is a formal tutorial starting with an interactive discussion on identification of sedation adverse events and intervention techniques. Simulation training is provided in the afternoon, in three sessions; two scenarios with the use of high-fidelity patient simulators, and one scenario with a human patient simulator (actress).
