About Hungary and Budapest
Budapest is the capital and the biggest city in Hungary. With more than 1.7 million inhabitants, it is also the 9th biggest city in the EU.
Originally the city was divided into two parts by the Danube river. The left bank was the Pest-side, and the right bank was the Buda-side.
In the 19th century, the two parts were merged and became Budapest.
Hungary became part of the EU in 2004, and in 2007 they joined the Schengen Area.
If your country is part of the Schengen area, you don't need to apply for a visa to travel to Hungary.
They use the Hungarian Forint as their currency.
