About Us

The European Society for Emergency Medicine (EUSEM INPO) is a non-profit scientific organisation whose vision is to ensure every patient recieves the best Emergency Care in Europe. Beginning as a society of individuals in 1994 from a multidisciplinary group of experts in emergency medicine, EUSEM membership has grown to include 38 European national societies as well as individual members. We represent over  40 000 Health Care Professionals working in the field of Emergency Medicine in Europe.

Our mission is to:

Advance research, education, practice and standards of the specialty of emergency medicine throughout Europe.

Our goals are:

  • To foster and encourage education, training and research in Emergency Medicine in Europe
  • To promote and facilitate the dissemination of information on Emergency Medicine, through meetings, courses, research and publications
  • To encourage the development of uniform information systems and data banks in Emergency Medicine in Europe
  • To encourage the formation and the cooperation between national associations for Emergency Medicine
  • To promote international collaboration in the field of Emergency Medicine

Member

Our members and potential members can make a MyEusem profile on the website. You can use your profile to log in to the MyEusem portal and complete/update your details, apply and register for our exams or apply for and manage your EUSEM Membership. To register your profile, we collect the following type of data:

  • name and job title
  • contact information including email address
  • demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • other information relevant to customer surveys and/or offers

If you log in to your account, you can see exactly what information is collected about you.

 

Candidate

To apply for workshops, courses and exams we collect additional information about you to estimate if you’re eligible to take part in them. For this purpose, we may collect the following type of data:

  • Professional information about your current and past responsibilities and education
  • Evidence of recent CPD (courses attended, lectures given, etc.)

EUSEM also automatically collects anonymous information regarding your use of our Websites. We do this by using Google Analytics cookies.

Attach a CV with relevant work experience, extracurricular activities and a photo. To be eligible you have to be 35 years or younger. If you are older than 35 but are still in training we will consider your application. Also state whether you will be present at the upcoming EUSEM congress in Athens. It is not absolutely necessary but we do recommend that you present yourself at our section meeting which will be held in Athens during the congress on Monday 25th of September, room 3-5.

There are two ways to vote:

  1. Join us at our section meeting during the upcoming congress in Athens on Monday 25th of September in room 3-5, and show your interest in our section. We will have a voting procedure during the meeting.
  2. If you are not able to attend, and if you are a EUSEM full member in training or a EUSEM full member below 35 years of age, you will receive an email in the week before the conference with voting instructions.

International Fluid Academy Days, which will take place on November 23-25th 2017 at the Hilton Hotel in Antwerp, Belgium. The aim of this sixth edition is again to review recent advances in fluid management, and hemodynamic and organ function monitoring in the critical care setting in a comprehensive manner for intensivists, anaesthesiologists and emergency physicians as well as interested internists and surgeons. However the meeting will deal with any broad topic related to critical care.
